Introduction and Recitals

Setting the stage for the entire contract.

The introduction and recitals sections are generally at the very beginning of your contract and set the stage for the entire contract.

Together they tell you who’s in the contract, when it became effective or signed, and the background or purpose of the contract. For the introduction section, make sure the client’s name is accurate and that you include the client’s address and type of business (e.g., Delaware LLC), if applicable. For the recitals section, make sure the description is accurate.
