Want to go global? Affiliate marketing can help

Affiliate marketing, as many of you know, is one of the oldest forms of marketing that allows you to receive a commission (money) when you refer a person to some online product, and he/she buys it on your recommendation.

Even when the internet wasn’t so popular, this form of marketing was used by various individuals to boost their respective businesses. The practice wasn’t so widespread back then, but it was, and still remains, one of the best ways to get things started. Imagine yourself as a chief of a startup venture.

Won’t it be easier for you to get your business going if an established brand recommends you to its customers? Well, affiliate marketing does exactly the same for you.

Why affiliate for performance

The idea behind affiliate marketing is to promote someone else’s product (often through an affiliate network) and earn a small amount of money when somebody buys that product, thanks to your marketing.

It’s like making money (no matter how small the amount is) in your sleep. The concept is based on revenue sharing. If you have a product and want more people to buy it, you can offer promoters an incentive through an affiliate scheme.

On the other hand, if you have no product to offer but want to earn some revenue, you can promote a product which you think will do well in the market and earn from it as an affiliate marketer.

Why businesses are showing their interests

Whether you realize this or not, there is no limit on how much you can earn from an affiliate program. The global leaders have understood the potential of affiliate marketing long ago, and have employed it as a tool to increase their revenue. But that’s just one side of the story.

Affiliate marketing is also allowing domestic brands to go global. Under this scenario, the brands are no longer in need of a separate marketing strategy. Once they have the product ready, it is good enough to be promoted on a global scale.

The overseas clientele is a pretty fascinating thing for businesses (whether it’s a small one or a large nationwide industry) which is why more and more businesses are showing their interest in affiliate marketing.

What experts say

Neil Patel (one of the top 10 marketers, Forbes) has described that it’s not just the promotion or just the creation of a product that describes to you what your role is as an affiliate marketer.

You can be both of them (the creator and the marketer) and still profit from the underlying concept of sharing revenue.

This marketing phenomenon can be identified as the process of spreading product creation and product marketing across various parties, where both the parties receive a share of the revenue depending on their contribution.

What’s the catch for e-commerce?

Amazon, which is one of the largest online stores on the internet, offers other businesses (or website owners) up to 10% advertising fees on promoting the products of amazon.com on their websites.

While Amazon is allowing other businesses (or website owners and bloggers) to earn a few bucks through promotions, it is also increasing its reach throughout the market with affiliate marketing.

Well, Amazon is not the only global leader who has employed affiliate marketing as a tool for their growth. Trivago, the largest hotel-search website on the internet is the first brand to appear when you search “hotel prices”.

How does affiliate marketing work?

The popular concept of affiliate marketing describes it as a relationship between three parties: advertiser, publisher, and consumer.

From solo entrepreneurs to the large Fortune 500 companies, anyone who is ready to pay other people to help them sell and promote their business can be an advertiser.

Likewise, the publisher of the affiliate can also be a single individual to an entire company who (or which) is willing to earn commission by promoting another person’s product.

Now, the consumers play an important role in this, as they are the ones who power the process. Without sales, there won’t be any commission to offer and no revenue to be shared.

Who plays a significant role in affiliate marketing?

The independent bloggers and website owners play a significant role in affiliate marketing. In the 21st century, there are significant numbers of bloggers and content creators in the list of most influential people in the world.

Due to their humongous popularity, they have also become one of the most potential publishers for the brands. You may have found a lot of bloggers talking about certain brands and their products in their content. It’s nothing but a part of affiliate marketing.

Although affiliate marketing has been a popular tool for the global leaders as well as the startups to extend their business and revenue, the marketing process does not guarantee instant success.

It has always been an obvious monetization option, but it’s not a plug and play program. The partnership requires time, patience and constant evaluation of what works and what doesn’t.

It is also impossible to outline a common framework for the marketing process that works for all sorts of businesses. However, the marketing program is an organic entity and has the potential to grow open-endedly.
